The curator behind Vienna’s Boutique
Meet Elisabeth Short
Elisabeth was born in Germany, raised in Austria and New Jersey, and came to California for college—where she never left. Her background blends European practicality, East Coast directness, and a relaxed California sensibility. After years working in high-end consignment, she developed a sharp eye for quality, value, and pieces that deserve a second life. Vienna’s Boutique is named in honor of her roots and reflects her thoughtful, approachable style.
Elisabeth believes consignment should feel easy, honest, and worth your time. Her approach is consistent and personal, with a focus on helping each consignor feel confident about what they bring. With a natural instinct for what sells and a genuine love of finding a great piece, she curates every item to meet the standards of a clean, modern, and well-edited collection.
Every appointment is handled with the same care she would give her own wardrobe.
Frequently Asked Questions
What to Know Before You Book
Below are answers to some common questions about consigning with Vienna’s Boutique. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, we’re always happy to help.
How does consignment work at Vienna’s Boutique?
All new consignors begin with a scheduled appointment. During your visit, we’ll review your items together and let you know which pieces are a fit for our boutique.
After your appointment, you’ll receive an email within 72 hours with access to your online consignor account, where you can view accepted items, pricing, and sales activity. To open an account, a minimum of five items must be accepted.
Appointments are available Tuesday–Saturday.
If you’d like assistance before bringing items in, we’re happy to help in advance.
Do you offer house calls?
Yes, we offer in-home pickup for existing consignors or larger collections.
If you’ve already edited your closet and are unable to visit the boutique, please email us to inquire about availability. House calls are scheduled on a case-by-case basis.
What items do you accept?
Vienna’s Boutique accepts women’s designer clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, and select jewelry that are seasonally appropriate and in excellent condition.
We look for luxury and contemporary designer labels, unique pieces, and styles with strong resale appeal. While age is considered, overall style, condition, and relevance are more important.
We do not accept swimwear or activewear unless new with tags, lingerie, or traditional business attire.
How long are items on the sales floor?
Items are consigned for up to 120 days.
After 45 days, thoughtful markdowns may be introduced to encourage sale. Markdowns typically range from 20% to 50%.
Any items remaining one week after the consignment period ends become the property of Vienna’s Boutique and may be donated or included in store sales.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is set by our team based on market data, resale demand, condition, and brand value. Most items are priced at approximately 50% of the retail.
Items that are new with tags, current season, or in high-demand categories such as handbags and jewelry may be priced higher. We also use AI-assisted pricing tools to ensure competitive, accurate pricing.
A detailed breakdown of consignor earnings is available on our website.
How and when am I paid?
Checks are paid at the end of the contract, and consignors may choose from the following payout options:
- Store credit, available immediately after sale
- ACH direct deposit
- Checks are issued once balances reach $200, paid on the 5th of the following month
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges.
How are designer handbags authenticated?
Handbags are evaluated in-house using our expertise, and select luxury handbags are authenticated using Entrupy, an AI-powered image analysis tool that supports our authenticity review.
